Is it appropriate to host multiple Wordpress sites (and other sites in general) on the same domain?

I met a client who has several wordpress sites on the site.ru domain under different urls.
site.ru/first_wordpress_site/
site.ru/second_wordpress_site/
Is this supposed to be normal? I think not, because analytics, SEO, etc. They analyze it on one site, and here, as it were, on one domain there are several different links with different content.
