Is Growl necessary in Mountain Lion?

Now I have updated and I think, is there a need to continue using growl, because there is a built-in notification center?

No, there is no need IMO. Developers are starting to add Notification Center support to their apps + you can forward growl notifications from non-NC-enabled apps to NC using Hiss .

Applications have long learned to display notifications even without growl installed. It is needed only for their finer tuning and nothing more.
