Is downgrading iOS from 5.0.1 to 4.3.* still possible?
The battery on the ipad 1 is eating incredibly, all the same, I decided to roll back until the trouble is fixed and the jail is not rolled out. The manuals from December say that as long as Apple signs something there, it's possible. I'm not a mega specialist, but Apple still signs?

You can standardly, through the restore in iTunes. If there is no backup from 4.3.5 left, download the image from Apple, then with the option pressed (in Windows, apparently, alt) press restore. Works on Mac, haven't tried it on Windows.
Here is a thread on the Apple forum, where one friend described the process and posted links from which you can get the firmware from 4.3.5:

I'll tell you a secret, it was in 5.0.1 that a bug with a battery was fixed, and there has been a jail for a month now.
I had a similar issue with my iphone. Reinstalling without saving the settings helped.
jailbreak for 5.0.1 has been out for 2 months now. Reverting to older versions is possible only if shsh is saved from them.
It's strange, I have an old iPad 1 already, it's over a year old. So at 5.0.1 hour the video eats up less than 10% of the battery.
