Is AWS S3 a VPS or something more?

Guys, tell me / explain on AWS services. I deploy projects to Linux VPS using Nginx, uwsgi, gunicorn. Now I got a project deployed on S3. I look at the config files and see just a dozen settings for accessing the service. Do I understand correctly that S3 does not need to bother with the web server settings? Registered accesses and everything works? Or is it only for static file settings, and the web-server is running somewhere else? How does it even work?

@Lepilov

s3 is a simple storage with API access.
Of course, you don't need to configure anything yourself.
