iPhone antenna?

Surprisingly, cellular communication in London is on average much worse in quality than in Moscow. Or antennas in smartphones have become much worse compared to what it was 5-10 years ago. The question is, are there antennas for the iPhone? Googling didn't turn up anything useful.
Yes, and we are not talking about the fourth iPhone with the famous problem about how to hold it. That's why I still use 3GS, but the coverage is quite bad in places.

Officially, there are no such antennas. Unofficially, if you open the case and lose the warranty, you can still attach an external antenna. Another option is an external repeater-amplifier. It can be in the form of a separate box or built into a phone case.
Look for example here: www.ehelpfultips.com/iphone_external_antenna_connect.htm

Well, the antennas really got worse. All sorts of ancient siemens and nokies are caught where new smartphones cannot even catch background noise.
