iOS development under a virtual machine?
Good evening, I want to start developing for iOS, for this purpose I decided to purchase an Acer TimelineX 3830TG (i5-2410M: 2.3 GHz, 4 GB, DDR3-1333) and run an OS X virtual machine on it, etc.
Attention to the question: How realistic is the whole idea, and will it be comfortable to work on a virtual machine or OS X under a virtual machine is not a tenant?

I made applications under a virtual machine on a computer much weaker, brakes are noticed, but for me they were not critical.
if everything depends on the cost, then you can find a good used macbook for the cost of this laptop. if there is no strong need for a PC laptop, then it is better to choose a new macbook - consider it an investment)
This is tough, if you just study development for iOS, then the option with a virtual machine is still acceptable. That's how I started.
Then I installed a hackintosh, suffered with every update and constantly not working sound. Then he spat and bought a MacBook.
I tried to install OS X on a virtual machine. It worked. But it slowed down and got it. I installed Hackintosh - it also got it. As a result, I bought a Mac Mini, delivered an SSD and 8GB of RAM to it - then happiness came.
Whatever one may say, Mac is worth the money and honestly fulfills them. At least the fact that it is absolutely not audible. I spent about 150 bucks to mute my old system unit (cooler, power supply, screw hangers) - but it was still louder than a poppy mini, or any other poppy.
I tried to raise a virtual machine on a satsionarka of a similar configuration. It was possible to work, but the brakes were noticed, and over time they just started to enrage. Dropped this thing.
Weird. And why didn’t they buy a Mac for these purposes? 4 GB is not enough. On an 8GB iMac, I sometimes manage to screw them all up. You will use not only xCode and the simulator. Unless you can watch the Internet under a virtual machine in a browser - but it’s not convenient. And I must say, xCode is not perfectly written. There were cases when, due to an error in the application, the entire system hung on the simulator. I myself have recently been working under Mac OS and would never have thought that this was even possible.
Acceptable speed is provided by VMWare c 8.0.1 (or slightly later) versions.
To ensure even more comfortable work, you need to make sure that there is enough memory, and install an SSD drive.
Under these conditions, the feeling of simple work is almost like a native poppy.
Operations where there are full-screen animated transitions with transparency are noticeably slowed down - expanding windows to full screen, launching the launch padach. (Maybe I forgot). The reason is simple - in fact, there is no support for hardware acceleration of graphics output in a virtual macOS under a non-macOS host.
You can also forget about comfortable video viewing. The sound may lag. - there is already a question of the correctness of the guest system settings.
I personally managed to work on two 2d games under virtual machines. True, for final debugging and optimizations - I bought McMini.
A well-known site has torrents for ready-made customized images for virtual machines. Therefore, download and try - not long. As they say, it's better to see once :)
The percentage is rather weak, the memory is very very small. Put 8Gb, and preferably 16.
A friend threw a link on the topic, there the guys on this laptop raise a hackintosh.
