Interview for the position of a JavaScript developer in St. Petersburg, what you need to know?
Good day, before asking this question, I carefully looked at similar requests, but did not find anything suitable for myself, I will go in the near future, and I want to try to go to interviews, I looked at vacancies on hh and it’s basically clear what employers want, but still wondering where to get the first year of experience? Is my lack of higher education so critical (for personal reasons)? I know JavaScript at a fairly good level, it seems to me (further than "Hello, world!"), A little familiar with node.js, html and css, respectively, but since I have not participated in real projects, I understand that without practice my knowledge will not they cost a lot, I am eager to do this, I feel that this is the work of my life, I am ready to work, ready to learn, can you advise something about this? interested in St. Petersburg,

To be honest, they answer here to go freelancing for the first experience. I asked myself the same question recently. As a result, without listening to anyone, I scattered my resume wherever possible. I went to 2 interviews, both of them got me a job. Here is the first month I work now. On one edit of other people's mistakes on trifles, on the other I make projects from scratch.
As for the tower, they never asked for a diploma.
As for experience, as a rule, they are interested in what a person really knows, that is, having a portfolio is certainly good, but it is much more significant to show your command of the language and the libraries required in the vacancy.
Also in offices are often interested in the ability to work in a team.
Well, as for those who recommend working in freelancing, IMHO nonsense, I started in freelancing and the experience didn’t grow much, because I didn’t take on serious projects.
I worked for a web studio, gained experience and returned to freelancing again, though with prices 10 times higher. True, now I’m working for my uncle again, because in the summer the crisis still pressed, or rather the lack of normal orders, although again the point here is that I’m not interested in taking on cheap stuff for 15-30 thousand already.
ps I'm from St. Petersburg
