Integrating the Zinnia blog with an existing Django project?

I have a project with my own database (PostgreSQL) and a bunch of tables in it, including Django admin tables.
The Zinnia documentation says what settings to make in settings.py, but what about the database?
It has its own database with its own tables and admin tables.
How does Django solve the problem of integrating an existing project with a third-party project or application in the classic way?
