Installing Lazarus on OS X?

I want to try Lazarus on 10.10 The question is, is it possible to do without xcode, because I don't really want to keep 15 GB of garbage on the disk. In some places they write that xcode is required. On the off site it says that you need apple developer tools, but they seem to be installed only with xcode.
