Installing a microframework with composer?

Did curl -sS https://getcomposer.org/installer | php in the project folder, the composer.phar file appeared but the composer --version command says command not found Is this abnormal? What else have I forgotten?
And another follow-up question: what microframework can be installed via composer? (server calculator).
