In which country is it better to host a VPN server?

For personal needs, I want to make myself a VPN server, I chose OVH, but the question arose, in which country is it better to place the server for better speed and less ping? Maybe someone has experience? My location is Russia (Closer to China)

Any self-respecting vps hoster has such things, or at least a gigabyte file lies, test for downloading. Well, you can usually get a test period in support, explaining why.
