In Photoshop, when you invert a selection, instead of removing the selection, the layer is removed. What to do to fix?
I watched a lesson on rounding corners - I did everything: invert the selection, selected the layer, and when I press del instead of deleting extra parts from the layer according to the selection, it deletes the entire layer. What to do?
Photoshop version - CS6.

First select the layer and then invert. Delete on a layer in Layers deletes the layer itself, not the selection.
The second option - after inverting and clicking on the layer in the layers panel, click again on the selected area to remove the "focus" from the layer in layers
