imagemagic and jpeg?

For ImageMagic, I want to add support for jpeg on ubuntu , I
download libjpeg-9, install it, everything is fine, then
identify -list format -v
and there is no jpeg in the list, and imagemagic correctly gives an error when working with .jpeg
identify: no decode delegate for this image format
what could be the problem?

Try installing the JPEG library from source . And after that, imagemagick itself.
