From transports I advise icq.jabber.sk. There is a minus: there is no message delivery report. But a big plus: absolute stability (of all that I have tried, this one is the best). Contacts imports adequately - substituting nicknames.
As for the transition from one transport to another, I can advise the following thing: before registering in a new transport, we put Psi + (maybe there are other messengers with an advanced contact manager) and in this manager, we ask you to replace the old domain of all contacts with a new one. And then we register in a new transport (without forgetting to disable manual authorization, although I don’t remember, maybe this is not necessary, but it’s better to play it safe). But I'm not sure, maybe nicknames will remain old, that is, they will be absent.
