Icons in the announcement. Right so?

Hello. I want to draw a conclusion from 1 to 4 icons in the announcement. Many say do it through taxonomy. Well, I don’t understand how ...
I create a dictionary, add terms, add the image field.
But when outputting, only a link to the term page is displayed.
How to do it right?

I can remember Display Suit, but not only is it complicated, but in my opinion it also slows down the site.
So it's easier to master https://www.drupal.org/project/taxonomy_image which has this description:
"Taxonomy Image Link Alter
Adds images to the regular taxonomy links for content types that you select."
