I would like to understand what people call a big project in web development. Examples?

It happens that I read that for small projects one tool is needed, and for large projects another. Or, for example, how people separate the concepts of "web site" and "web application". And I still can’t figure out what the defining difference is between a website and a web application. It is clear that a business card or a landing page is by no means an application. How about an online store? Please provide clarifying examples.

"web site" part of "web application". the site is its external, visible part of democracy. No wonder they are called web muzzles. besides the site itself, under the hood there can be a bunch of everything else. for example, a database. and servers for the database and website. etc. etc.
what examples do you need? toaster - "big project".
