This is a concept from Google, so you should most likely use Google technologies, however, if you really need it, if there is a goal, then you yourself know better what to focus on.
Do you have a goal? Or do you just open the news from Habrahabr, see what's new from Google and you immediately want to study "everything is stupid? Doesn't it bother you that this particular Google has a lot of projects that it considered "not taking off" and closed?
