I want to try myself in IT, where to start?

I am 33, I want to change the field of activity (auto parts, construction are tired). Where can I start to understand whether I can or not? What courses should I sign up for?
Or study on your own https://htmlacademy.ru/?
There is a higher education, but it is not at all connected with IT, there are no basics of programming. I use the computer confidently for home purposes). I haven't forgotten English yet, I can learn it. I created my own business card site.
I have a stable income and free time, I want to learn new things, I think that a good specialist in IT will always feed himself and that I have an airbag if my previous income sags somewhere and I can safely work in another area, albeit for an average salary .
Came to you for advice, where to dig? Try to learn about all directions superficially or devote 3-4 months of hard study to something, because there is probably a base for everyone?
There is a lot to learn, I still don’t understand what the soul would lie down for.
Thank you.
Thanks for answers. And if you try out as a tester, do you need to learn HTML and CSS?

html+css->php+mysql->js. A little bit of explanation, we start typesetting, a little slowly, savoring the tags and styles. At this stage, it is quite possible that you will vomit, but that's okay, many programmers turn back from layout. Then we try php, write scripts and get acquainted with such a necessary thing as databases, sometimes you can stop at this stage and delve into the back end. Or take a look at the mighty js and see what you can do with this same layout using zhabskvirt. At any of the stages, you can stop and go deeper if you feel that your hair has stood up with pleasure. With one correction, you won’t get far on one layout, js is still needed a little, just like in js there is nothing to do without layout knowledge, you can go to the backend alone, but there are enough devils even without layout with js. If php turns back, you can choose a more eye-pleasing python or something else, the backend is rich in choosing a programming language. Good luck to you, but if the soul does not fall into this during the learning process, then it is better to leave and look for something else, since programming is the same work at the factory as the guys wrote, here. Has its own routine and boring moments.

Learning without real tasks is rather inefficient.
Come up with a small task and try to implement it. Along the way there will be many questions solving which you will learn a lot.
It is advisable to take the task from the subject area that you are familiar with. For example auto parts/construction in your case. Or something else where you can identify real problems.
For example, when I decided to study Angular 2 and the Go language, I began to make a debt tracking application https://DebtsTracker.io/ and a bot for Telegram https://t.me/DebtsTrackerRuBot , since there was a problem with taking into account how much I owe to whom.
The presence of a real implemented project will greatly help with further employment. And if you're lucky, it may bring income.

You can try to join IT as a tester, the entry threshold is lower than a programmer (usually), but at least you need to know SQL + read books on testing theory, + you may need to learn other languages depending on the subject area

Here, first you need to understand what you like more, maybe he will like system administration.

"First you need to learn the basics of programming, anything will do (Ruby, Python, Java, PHP). Then, take any language and study it for 2-5 days to get acquainted. After you try everything, listen to yourself, remember that you liked the most. Based on that, choose." Is this advice from two years ago still relevant? And one more thing: 1C and design are not interesting at all.
