C++ is too overcomplicated even for the knowledgeable.
Lots of opportunities to shoot yourself in the foot.
a bunch of standards.
I would suggest Go.
but from a lower level - C without pluses (but you also need to be careful with your leg)

I would look towards Go and Python... C++ can and should be studied as an elective!..
