I resized the photo in Win8.1, the final size is 1.5 MB. I change in Win10, the final size is 500 KB. Interesting, what's the catch?

In general, this is not a problem, but it became interesting. The situation is this. Resized images of photos in Win8.1 using XnView (source: JPG 6000x4000, 11 MB, destination: JPG 1920x1280, 1.5-2.5 MB). Updated to Win10, began to resize further and oh, miracle! the sizes of the final photos have become from 200 KB to 500 KB. Those. the size has decreased by 4 times. I tried to change in Paint't - as well as XnView, and using the internal viewer TotalCommander'a - the same as in Win8.1, the final size is at least 1.5 MB. Changing the compression algorithms does not affect anything. It turns out that some algorithms inside Win10 itself help it in facilitating JPG, or what? Tried googling, couldn't find any references. Maybe someone here will give an answer, but it's interesting after all ;-)

Saves with different JPG compression settings. Smaller size - worse quality.
In addition to directly adjusting the compression level, there are a bunch of other options - color palette, titles, etc.
Photoshop offers many options to reduce the image if you are trying to save it for web.

Yeah. Thanks for the advice. I climbed through the settings, indeed, the quality slider is set to 80. But I prefer 100 :-)
