I love physics (mechanics) and mathematics - is it worth it to try yourself in game dev and how?

Hello!
I like to solve problems in physics and mathematics since school. In physics, it is excellent to solve mechanics. I love everything about math. At school it was 4-5, at the university a solid 4 in these subjects, tk. I'm a little lazy and had poor progress.
I love games. Who can try yourself in game maiden? Write engines? It seems not relevant - a bunch of ready-made, both paid and free.
UPD: I want to make a hobby out of this, not money. Money is all right. I work on the web - but it's boring there. I want to create worlds

@Vyad

Get a job at Autodesk or Siemens or SolidWorks or Compass or the Sukhoi company - they make combat aircraft simulators for pilots, and some other companies make computer simulators for modern military equipment - that is, tanks, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, etc. - full immersion, cooler than in games, because there is a cockpit with buttons, super in general, there are also simulators for officers in which you can command the battle, etc. software, which is essentially similar to games, but the level of realism is maximum.
Games are bad. They are of no use. Better start developing military, medical, etc. simulators or CAD - in these areas there are a lot of mathematics and physics.

Physics and mechanics are loosely related to gamedev. That is, it is not there, in the understanding accepted in mechanical engineering and how it is read in universities, where everything is done by nature. For an introduction to game physics, you can read Baraff, Mirtich, Witkin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Featherstone's_algorithm . In gamedev, all physics can be written by 1-2 people from the engine department. So just to come and say "I love the mechanics, let me optimize havok for ps4" will not work. Here they will rather take a person who can write 2000 lines of good code a week, and give him the necessary pieces of paper to read for a month. Than a person who suddenly clicked in his head after googling salaries that he suddenly fell in love with the exact sciences.
