I don’t really understand with what (jap) games or applications for social networks (vk and facebook) are created?

Social networks have a REST (HTTP) API, there are Stand-alone applications, these are external applications created on any HTTP-enabled programming language, websites (authorization, etc.) work similarly, and there are "built-in" games and applications, these are the same content as a photo or video, it is hosted in VK and can be executed in a browser, so HTML & CSS & JS or Flash are used.
