I just started to deal with vodpress so don't peck too hard!
such a question .. climbed into the function.php file of the theme, I wanted to add code for "breadcrumb" added, it did not work and gave the following error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'adjust_single_breadcrumb' (T_STRING) in /home/u862812138/public_html/wp -content/themes/virtue/functions.php on line 1

open the file
/home/u862812138/public_html/wp-content/themes/virtue/functions.php
in the search find adjust_single_breadcrumb and put $adjust_single_breadcrumb for sure
this is not a function name and not a constant but a variable
