HP 400GB SAS 2.5in SSD MLC Kit and 410i Controller - Do I need TRIM?

Good afternoon!
I heard that there are SSD drives (like the Intel X-25) that don't need TRIM.
The next question is - does the disk from the subject need it or not?

Thanks in advance!

In a nutshell. There is an OS independent function of all modern SSD controllers - Garbage collection (GC). This function works both when writing to a “littered” drive and when idle (no read / write operations), preparing “clean” blocks for use. TRIM is an OS add-on over GC to better optimize "littered" SSDs for data writing. If the RAID controller does not pass the OS command to execute TRIM, then just give the computer free time and the drive will “clean up” itself, although not as efficiently. Performance losses from running GC "on the fly" are estimated at 10-20% of a pure drive. Intel and OCZ recommend leaving some unallocated space to improve these features and reduce performance loss.

For SSD TRIM may not be needed. There was a case that TRIM was not supported in the X25-M G1 (first generation), but this was fixed in G2 disks. So if there is support, then it is better to activate and use it.
