How to write your own config file?

In general, such an idea, I will have several Raspberry PI devices, the same code will be executed on them, but each device has initials, so I think to store them in a file with keywords like:
[name] =
[id] =
and then look for keywords and parse the line with the word.
As far as this is a good idea, can anyone have examples of how to implement this?
