How to write an algorithm?

In general, I was given the topic of a term paper. I need to write a system "Personal nutritionist" - weight loss.
What the program should do: a regular calorie calculator. It's easy to write, so I don't bother.
However, this part of the task confuses me: "in case of violation of the plan, the program should indicate the
products that have the greatest impact on the violation and provide
recommendations on their replacement."
What is the algorithm to determine the product to be removed/replaced? It turns out that you need to choose a product that has the most calories? I looked for foreign programs to see how everything should work, but I did not find anywhere that the program could advise which product to remove / replace.

Dieting doesn't always involve weight loss. sometimes you need to gain it, sometimes you need to maintain it, in many cases there is no question of weight at all. so basically you are going to write some crap. how exactly to write it is no longer important
