How to write an agent application?

Good time, gentlemen, I got excited about creating for my organization some kind of program that would collect server data through an agent (or service) and give it to the server in SQL and a client that could manage agents (services) data from the category, for starters, just a system log, in the future add many features. But you also need to understand that people are lazy and so on and so forth. The question in general is in what language is it better to write, is it worth writing? Thank you.

It's not worth writing. There are zabbix, nagios, WMI in the end.
