How to work with branches in SourceTree?

Hello. I don't understand how SourceTree works. Created a repository. There is a master branch. Created a new !external branch via the GUI. But it is shown as local this time, and twice, I made a push of changes, but I can’t make a pool there, because it says that there is no such external branch.
If I am doing something wrong, I will be grateful for an explanation or a correct link.
There is no need to talk about the terminal, I myself know everything.
Thanks in advance.

@artgrosvil

branches are created locally, then when pushing in the window, check the box to track this branch.
