How to use Ipad or other tablet as a sub screen?

Good afternoon dear community.
I’ll make a reservation right away that I searched a little on the Internet for a possible solution, but everything doesn’t work very well there, so while I’m actively looking for a working bundle, I decided to ask you if someone has already solved this problem.
I have a macbook air + my wife has an ipad.
Before that, I was able to work on a 27 inch apple monitor, which I liked in every way, except for the size. (We will be traveling in the next year or two, so I won’t be able to buy and carry it with me)
For full-fledged work, my 13 inches are enough for me, only a small monitor is missing, a quarter of the screen, which can be fixed to the right or left of the laptop monitor, which , FULLY will repeat the work of an external monitor!
When I worked on 27 inches, I always had a small window of the video player hanging at the top left, where I listened to video lectures, this is very convenient, because when you need to look there, you look, and then you work. After returning to 13 inches, this window is missing.
The idea is approximately the following, connect the tablet by wire to the computer, and activate it as an additional monitor. (how to fix it to the left / right of the laptop monitor)
It should be able to play without any problems
- Video player with video material
- Browser, with a YouTube lecture running,
- Browser with a movie running, online where the video player is made on a flash.
Of course, the sound from the tablet must go to the computer, and it is already sent to the headphone jack, or to regular speakers.
And at the same time, with some button, it was possible to return the tablet to the state of the tablet, do something there, and go back.
Roughly speaking, you need the functionality of a 27-inch Imaca, which is a computer in itself, but when you insert a cord into it, you get only a monitor, when you press it again, you get a separate computer.
Do you know of any program that can implement this functionality?

Desktop video transmission requires a lot of computing power: a wide channel and a fast processor.
The computer needs to compress the entire picture from the screen at a sufficiently high speed, and transfer it to the channel without delay, and the tablet must have time to receive, decode and display - as a result, there will be a delay (frame drops and sound out of sync with the computer).
It is easier to connect directly from the tablet to the necessary sources.

We go to the AppStore (Better Together section) and see the Air Display application in the top: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/air-display/id4194...
