How to upload .ipynb interactive notebooks to github?

I have a number of projects and problem solving developed in a python interactive notebook (.ipynb) format I use Google Colab to write and run code. When uploading notebooks to GitHub, it fails to display their content, nor does it even understand that the project contains python code.

My understanding is that if I continue to develop using GitHub, there may be problems in the version control process. Tell me, how can I organize the interaction between .ipynb and GitHub?
