There was such a problem how to upgrade PHP 5.2 to PHP 5.5 on FreeBSD OS, while it is desirable to have both versions ...
Now there is OpenCart (all rewritten, so I can’t say which version exactly), the old version and you need to switch to PHP 5.3+ in order for version 2.0.0.0 to work. But for greater confidence in the performance, you need to install PHP 5.5
Has anyone solved such a problem?

Raise jail and put php55 there. IMHO, much better than crutches with two php.
