You can upgrade to the latest version of MySQL that is in CentOS 6 with the yum update mysql-server command.
Another thing is that CentOS 6 is no longer supported and the turnips have been moved to the archive. So most likely, yum will not work for you either.
You need to fix yum and then upgrade MySQL server.
