How to update Linux?
Hello.
Switching from Windows to Linux.
And Linux has not been updated for a long time, how can I update it now?
Is it to download a new repository and update from disk?
Or is it possible somehow through the terminal?
Worth ubuntu!

Linux is updated using the GUI for the package manager. Most distributions (including Ununtu) will offer and do everything themselves.
But I recommend just a clean install of 16.04 - it's easier and faster.
Switching from Windows to Linux. And why do you think that you are switching if you have a very superficial understanding of Linux? I advise you to work with him first in a virtual machine: suddenly you don’t like it.
terminal and there
> sudo apt-get update
> sudo apt-get upgrade
You will also have to edit /etc/apt/sources.list, since most likely the distribution has ended support and packages from standard sources are no longer available.
Linux is the kernel. The kernel in the distribution is updated by the regular package manager. The regular package manager has a graphical add-on above it. Boot into the system and read what you will be asked.
