How to update build on an already running site?

How is the build of the new version updated if the site is already running?
For example, I made changes to the project on local and rebuilt it.
How to update it on the server now?
Do I need to stop the server, re-upload files, or can this be done without stopping in some other way?

Push the build to the git repository and push it to the server. This is the simplest version. Easier than ftp.
