How to understand this task?

I was given a task that sounds like this: "given a matrix of numbers, count the number of columns that are made up of pairwise different numbers."
I can't figure out what columns should be, such that they cannot have two identical elements in a row; such that there cannot be identical elements in a column at all, or such that several columns should not have identical elements, or something else?
What columns are implied?

This means that any pair of numbers in the column will be different.
Those. "such that there can't be identical elements in a column at all"
