How to transfer a company to Linux?

About AD I can say that if as a result you have all the infrastructure on Linux, then AD didn’t give up on you completely replaced by LDAP.

Ubuntu is the right solution, but about DCOM - you can use wine - http://wiki.winehq.org/NativeDcom

As far as I remember, NativeDcom is implemented on sockets and does not work in heterogeneous environments
