Interested in a report on who opened the letter, who followed the link of the letter and other parameters of the effectiveness of email newsletters.

If your base is down, use third-party services of which there are many around. If you have spam - any attempt to track something will most likely lead all your ... ahem ... mailing to the spam folder.

For small mailings, we use mailchimp.com. Very interesting statistics are available. It is especially pleasing that there is a free option to use.

Usually they just wrap all the links in the letter to their script for counting clicks / transitions.
If you deliver to Russian recipients, then there is such a tool postmaster.mail.ru/ …
