How to track network traffic on a device?
There is a smart TV from Samsung.
I want to track where he goes for content. There is no way to set up a proxy.
What do you advise?
Answer the question
In order to leave comments, you need to log in
whiteshark network through it you can see everything that interests you
arp attack.
And look at the traffic with some kind of sniffer.
Both the first and second are in intercepter-ng,
although it is better to use WireShark as a sniffer
Depends on capabilities and skills.
The easiest way is to connect the TV through a switch / router and intercept traffic on it. At home - take a router, flash it under OpenWRT and monitor it via tcpdump or tshark.
There is also a SPAN / RSPAN mechanism - to mirror traffic from one switch port to another, supported by more advanced switches and routers.
The Samsung smart TV runs on a custom Ubuntu (built for ARM and its own drivers). You can take it to Debug mode, substitute your application from the configured server and redirect traffic to them. Or install (wireshark - its console version of tshark) or tcpdump - but it all makes sense if you can remotely access the TV via ssh / telnet, or there are serial interfaces for a number of models.
How do I understand the TV is connected via Wi-Fi? Whereas, as an option, you can connect a PC via an ethernet cable to a router, set up a hosted network ( hosted network ) to use the PC as an access point, and connect a TV to it. You can monitor traffic both on the eth interface and on the wlan interface of the PC, the main thing is that the promiscuous mode option in wireshark must be enabled.
