How to track interaction with a link (highlight, copy, but not click)?

Good afternoon. Need advice / help on how to bind the execution of the Metrics event when interacting with a specific link / piece of text.
That is, if I wanted to bind the execution of an action on a click, I would use onclick, if on submitting a form, then I would use onsubmit. But how to bind the execution of an action to select and / or copy a link / piece of text? Maybe some simple Js script?

Look at the mouse events jquery.page2page.ru/index.php5/%D0%A1%D0%BE%D0%B1%...
Selection is .mousedown() and .mouseup() between which there is a decent amount of time.
