I read Google guides, everything is clear with the main density sizes - mdpi, hdpi, xdpi, etc. But what about those that, for example, are more than hdpi, but less than xdpi - 280? Or do you need to calculate the size of the elements in the code?

No way. The markup should be responsive.
ps screens with a width of less than 280dp, I personally have not seen in the last 5 years.
