How to sync extension settings?

I recently enabled synchronization in Google Chrome, synchronization of extension settings does not work: for example, I had to re-set the rules for Adblock Plus

Through meditation, I found this bug code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=47327
It is set as Fixed. I also saw a bunch of similar questions in Google Groups - there is no answer anywhere.

If anyone has encountered a similar problem, please suggest a solution.

Hm. I thought they weren't supposed to sync...
Latest chrome, ubuntu 12.04 (Earlier versions didn't sync settings either.)
