How to study databases? Where to begin? Which DBMS to choose? What to read? Where to look for information?

Hello! I recently decided to become a web developer. Having studied HTML, CSS and, partially, JavaScript, as well as crawling through various forums and blogs, I decided that the backend is closer and more interesting to me. There are many questions that I have not found answers to. Is it possible to use SQL without a DBMS? And if not, which one should you choose? They say that MySQL is buggy, often crashes and corrupts information, and PostgreSQL is inconvenient to set up and difficult for beginners. What book for beginners that analyzes these issues is worth reading? Is it possible to manage databases from NodeJS? Do you need to learn PHP or can you get by with NodeJS? What else should a back-end developer learn? Thanks in advance. Is it possible to deploy a database on a laptop while studying? What needs to be installed and how much does everything weigh?

No. That is, you can write requests even on a piece of paper, but where to send them for execution?
They say they milk the chickens.
To begin with, assimilate the difference between a database and a DBMS (which is not "which" because the system).
Can.
For the rest of the google://, too many questions in one question.
