How to store and how to display a set of coordinates on Google or Yandex maps?

I want to do the following thing: add a map from Google or Yandex to the site, and then display a set of coordinates on this map in a certain sequence, for example, so that this set looks like a path. I know that the coordinates for maps have the usual form of gps coordinates, but where should I store them and how can I extract and display these coordinates on the server side on the map?
