How to stop an OpenVPN session in ubuntu?

Good afternoon. I connect to vpn through the terminal.
Thus, the session cannot be stopped.
sudo /etc/init.d/openvpn stop
does not give any errors, but the ip does not change. Killing the process manually is not an option, since I want to bind everything to shortcuts on the desktop.
