How to start training as an information security specialist?

For a long time I was looking for what I want to do in the IT field, and I chose - an information security specialist.
I want to disassemble programs, debug and learn how to protect them, data encryption methods, etc.
I'm studying at some college supposedly information technology, where programming is limited to writing calculators and other crap (until the end of the 4th year!) And since there is no one who would tell me where to start, I write here
Start with assembler or from an in-depth study of a high-level language (I know C #, python, a little JAVA, and all these languages \u200b\u200bare without practical application )
Why IB? I think this is a great way to understand how a computer works, to become a good programmer and experienced in computer security to
move on . ++, learn zeros and ones, learn 16-bit assembler (and what's the difference with 32-bit then), download IDA and examine the code) - the further I go, the more questions, sometimes quite stupid

Start first by choosing an information security topic... Networks, cracking, web application analysis, mobile application security analysis, etc. There are many interesting things and, most importantly, even more tools. So it's very difficult to give advice.
This is always the case with the University, there is almost no actual training in Russia so far ... Especially in information security. Well, except that in Moscow, even then, adequate teachers do not teach in all universities ... There are a lot of just talkers and old farts. They don't have much to give or give advice. Therefore, it remains self-education and the right search queries
