How to start learning Oracle?
hi, Toaster
Relatively recently got into programming. I started learning C, PHP, JS etc, and as I got acquainted, of course, I had to deal with databases (MySQL) and this industry attracted me wildly. I decided to hit Oracle, but I could not find an intelligible course. Knowledge of SQL can be estimated at 7 out of 10. I understand the structure of relational databases intuitively. With normalization for you. Advise suitable material to understand this beast. Mostly interested in base design. I got to know PL/SQL quite closely.

Install Oracle XE, install Enterprise manager, play around. Then write some simple programs in your favorite programming language: implement CRUD operations. It will be enough to get started.
Why do you need Oracle XE ? Why don't you immediately install the full version (Enterprise Edition) and test all available options? You use it for training, because no one will come with a license check.
I so suspect Oracle XE is very limited in the functionality. Even the Standard Edition is pretty cut off.
As for very serious offices, this is complete nonsense. There are a lot of offices where Oracle is used, of course without a license. I used to work in one of these.
