How to start administering Windows Web Server 2008?

Good afternoon!

I plan to move my site from Shared hosting to VPS soon. This raises a number of questions: how to administer this miracle. Previously, there was no experience in administering servers, and I don’t want to just install and use it, the built-in paranoia does not allow it.

There are many things that come to mind, the first ones that come to mind are:

  1. How to properly protect it
  2. Which mail server to choose (free) and why
  3. Firewall? Need?
  4. Additional DNS entries (such as DKIM)
  5. How to secure a database (MS SQL 2008 R2)

These and many other questions are of concern, please tell me where to start and where to read it. Hands are not crooked, I think I can figure it out myself and I want to :)

Thank you in advance!

Let me remind you of the well-known saying: "the first pancake is lumpy." Put the system in a virtual machine, drive. At this stage, some experience will appear. Then try Metasploit, or open a virtual machine for everyone to access. :-) And then you can play on the working server. Well, backups more often, yeah.
As an option, look for a person who will help in theory or practice. And not everyone will have to do it for money.
