How to split mysql server?

I have a large server with a database, I need small databases with parts of this database. To use it locally and not the entire DB. And make constant synchronization between parts of the database and the large database. Do I understand correctly that you need to look towards agents in Mysql? I am currently using MySql server.

What parts? Some tables entirely? Or all tables, with a part of records? If yes, what part?
Is replication important or is yesterday's data enough, for example?
