How to specify the path to the project in another folder?

Xampp is on the C:\xampp drive, and the project files are on the desktop. How can xampp be told to run files from the desktop?

UPD: in httpd.conf I added: DocumentRoot "C:\Users\kolik\Desktop\project"and <Directory "C:\Users\kolik\Desktop\project">now localhost gives a 403 error
