How to solve unstable npm run dev script issue?

I'm working on the gutenberg project - https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg , after a couple of hours of running the npm run dev script, the script starts to load the processor at 100 percent, I have to restart the script every couple of hours. In stock lenovo ideapad 330 laptop, windows 10. What could be the problem and how to solve it? Switching to Linux can help in this case?
